The Athlon Optics Argos HMR 2-12x42 BDC is a versatile and reliable second focal plane rifle scope designed specifically for hunters who need a practical magnification range and a user-friendly reticle. This model (214004) features a 2-12x magnification range paired with a 42mm objective lens and a BDC (Bullet Drop Compensator) reticle. Built to deliver excellent performance in the field, the Argos HMR series combines quality glass, durable construction, and thoughtful features at an affordable price, making it an outstanding choice for deer hunting, hog hunting, predator control, and general-purpose hunting applications.
Versatile 2-12x Magnification Range
The 2-12x magnification range of the Argos HMR offers outstanding flexibility for a wide variety of hunting situations. At the low end (2x), the scope provides a wide field of view that is ideal for close-range shots in thick cover or when game appears suddenly. As magnification increases to 12x, hunters gain the precision needed for accurate shot placement at medium to long ranges. This versatile zoom range makes the Argos HMR suitable for everything from dense timber hunting to open-country pursuits without the need to carry multiple optics.
Practical BDC Reticle
The Argos HMR is equipped with a BDC reticle designed to simplify holdovers at various distances. The BDC reticle features pre-calibrated aiming points that correspond to common bullet drop distances, allowing hunters to quickly and accurately engage targets without constantly adjusting turrets. This makes the scope especially effective for hunters who prefer a simple, intuitive aiming system that works well with popular hunting cartridges. The second focal plane design keeps the reticle size consistent across all magnification settings, providing a clean sight picture at both low and high power.
42mm Objective Lens for Excellent Light Transmission
The 42mm objective lens strikes an ideal balance between light-gathering capability and overall scope size. It provides ample light transmission for clear images during dawn, dusk, and other low-light conditions when most game is active. Combined with Athlon’s fully multi-coated lenses, the Argos HMR delivers bright, high-contrast images with good resolution across the entire magnification range, giving hunters a clear advantage during the critical low-light hours.
