The Athlon Optics Argos HMR 2-12x42 AHMC is a versatile and reliable second focal plane illuminated rifle scope designed for hunters who need a practical magnification range and a precise, easy-to-use reticle. This model (214008) features a 2-12x magnification range paired with a 42mm objective lens and the illuminated AHMC reticle. Built to deliver excellent performance in the field, the Argos HMR series combines quality glass, durable construction, and thoughtful features at an affordable price, making it an outstanding choice for deer hunting, hog hunting, predator control, and general-purpose hunting applications.

Versatile 2-12x Magnification Range

The 2-12x magnification range of the Argos HMR offers outstanding flexibility for a wide variety of hunting situations. At the low end (2x), the scope provides a wide field of view that is ideal for close-range shots in thick cover or when game appears suddenly. As magnification increases to 12x, hunters gain the precision needed for accurate shot placement at medium to long ranges. This versatile zoom range makes the Argos HMR suitable for everything from dense timber hunting to open-country pursuits without the need to carry multiple optics.

Illuminated AHMC Reticle

The Argos HMR is equipped with the illuminated AHMC reticle in the second focal plane. The AHMC is a well-designed MOA-based reticle that features precise hash marks for elevation and windage holdovers, allowing hunters to make accurate corrections at various distances. Because the reticle is located in the second focal plane, it remains the same size throughout the magnification range, providing a clean and consistent sight picture at all power settings. The red illumination offers multiple brightness levels, ensuring excellent visibility during low-light conditions such as dawn, dusk, and heavily shaded environments when most game is active.

42mm Objective Lens for Excellent Light Transmission

The 42mm objective lens strikes an ideal balance between light-gathering capability and overall scope size. It provides ample light transmission for clear images during dawn, dusk, and other low-light conditions. Combined with Athlon’s fully multi-coated lenses, the Argos HMR delivers bright, high-contrast images with good resolution across the entire magnification range, giving hunters a clear advantage during the critical low-light hours.
