Each of these  Brownells AR-15 Chrome Bolt Carrier Groups features a bolt machined from 9130 tool steel sitting inside of a carrier machined from durable 8620 hardened steel. Both of these essential components, as well as the extractor, gas key and cam pin, are all plated with chrome to provide protection against corrosion, as well as offer a slick, low-friction surface for smoother operation and easier cleaning. These bolt-carrier groups are built to work in any rifle chambered in 5.56 NATO, .223 Remington or 300 Blackout. However, they are not compatible with full-auto lower receivers.

For those looking to finish up a retro build, the  Brownells AR-15 Chrome Bolt Carrier Groups can be had with or without forward-assist serrations. The non-serrated model is correct for use on early AR-15s, like the Air Force Model 601, while the serrated model is correct for the early XM16E1 rifles of the mid-1960s.
