One of the issues with 7.62x39mm AR-15s is accommodating the size of the case head inside the receiver. Many manufacturers tend to just machine material from standard AR bolts, leading to a weakened structure that can fail far more quickly than purpose-built bolts. Faxon Firearms tackled this issue with its Type 1 Bolt Carrier Group, designed to give 7.62x39mm AR owners a bolt they can count on.

Each Faxon Firearms bolt-carrier group comes complete with a bolt machined from 9310 tool steel, which is strengthened even further through a nitride-treatment process that increases surface hardness and maximizes wear-resistance. Each bolt is magnetic-particle-inspected before it leaves the factory to ensure that there are no defects or abnormalities within the bolt material.

Other features found on the Faxon Firearms 7.62x39mm Type 1 Bolt-Carrier Group includes bolt lugs with a 45-degree chamfer, which provides reliability even with high-pressure handloads. The extractor on the bolt is machined from S7 tool steel and is sprung with a spring, O-ring and silicone insert. All bolts are heat-treated and shot-peened to military specifications.
