The HEVI-Shot HS7079 HEVI-18 Blend 20 Gauge 3" 1 1/2oz 7/8/9 Shot is a premium tungsten turkey hunting shotshell designed specifically for 20 gauge shotguns. This advanced load combines HEVI-Shot’s high-density HEVI-18 tungsten technology with a strategic blend of #7, #8, and #9 shot sizes. The result is a high-performance turkey load that delivers exceptional pattern density, deep penetration, and lethal performance at extended ranges while offering the lighter recoil and lighter weight advantages of a 20 gauge platform.
Why Choose HEVI-Shot HS7079 HEVI-18 Blend 20 Gauge?
HEVI-Shot continues to lead the industry in high-performance non-toxic shotshells with the HEVI-18 Blend series. The HS7079 load brings this advanced technology to the popular 20 gauge platform, giving hunters who prefer the reduced recoil and lighter weight of a 20 gauge the ability to achieve tight, lethal patterns on turkeys. By blending three different shot sizes (#7, #8, and #9) in a single shell, HEVI-Shot maximizes pellet count while maintaining excellent downrange energy. The 1 1/2-ounce payload in a 3-inch shell provides an impressive number of pellets, increasing the probability of hitting the vital head and neck area of a turkey. Because HEVI-18 tungsten is significantly denser than lead, these pellets retain velocity and energy much farther downrange than traditional loads, making this an outstanding choice for hunters who want maximum performance from their 20 gauge turkey gun.
Key Features of HEVI-Shot HS7079 HEVI-18 Blend 20 Gauge
- HEVI-18 Tungsten Blend – High-density tungsten for superior downrange velocity and energy
- 7/8/9 Shot Blend – Multi-size shot combination for dense, consistent patterns with high pellet count
- 1 1/2 oz Payload – Heavy shot charge optimized for 20 gauge turkey hunting
- 3-Inch Shell Length – Compatible with most 20 gauge shotguns chambered for 3" shells
- Non-Toxic Formulation – Safe for use in areas requiring non-toxic shot
- Reduced Recoil – Lighter recoil compared to 12 gauge loads for faster follow-up shots
- Extended Range Performance – Maintains tight patterns and energy at longer distances
Performance and Patterning
The HEVI-Shot HS7079 HEVI-18 Blend is engineered to produce exceptionally tight and consistent patterns from 20 gauge shotguns. The strategic blend of #7, #8, and #9 shot sizes creates a dense core of pellets while still providing enough larger pellets to deliver lethal energy on impact. This multi-size approach results in more pellets striking the turkey’s head and neck, dramatically increasing the chances of a clean, ethical kill.
Because HEVI-18 tungsten is approximately 30% denser than lead, the pellets maintain velocity and kinetic energy much better than traditional lead or steel loads. This allows the HS7079 to deliver effective patterns and penetration at ranges where many 20 gauge loads begin to lose effectiveness. Many hunters report excellent results out to 50 yards and beyond when paired with a quality turkey choke. The 1 1/2-ounce payload offers an outstanding balance of pellet count and manageable recoil, making this load ideal for hunters who want high performance without the heavy kick of larger gauge shells.
