Mossberg's shortened Shockwave platform sparked an industry-wide revolution, thanks to the innovative, non-NFA design of the gun. Since the angled Shockwave grip brings the overall length of the firearm to more than 26 inches, the Shockwave comes with a shortened barrel that makes for a compact, easily carried arm.

However, aiming the Mossberg Shockwave can be a bit difficult for those who aren't used to the platform, so Crimson Trace developed its innovative Lasersaddle for the 590 shotgun receiver used on the Shockwave. This projects a laser-aiming dot that users can track to aid in aiming their firearm.
