The Rapala Dives-To 12 2.25" Caribbean Shad is a premium balsa wood crankbait engineered to reach consistent depths of up to 12 feet while delivering an incredibly lifelike swimming action. This model (DT12CRSD) features the popular Caribbean Shad color pattern and is part of Rapala’s legendary Dives-To series, which has become a favorite among serious bass anglers, walleye fishermen, and multi-species anglers. With its precise diving characteristics, realistic appearance, and proven fish-catching ability, the DT12 is an essential lure for targeting fish holding in deeper water or along drop-offs and ledges.
Consistent 12-Foot Diving Depth
One of the standout features of the Rapala Dives-To 12 is its ability to dive to a consistent 12-foot depth. This makes it an excellent choice for fishing deeper structure, main lake points, creek channels, and offshore humps where bass and other gamefish often hold. The precisely engineered lip and body design allow the lure to reach its maximum depth quickly and stay there throughout the retrieve, giving anglers confidence that their lure is in the strike zone.
Premium Balsa Wood Construction
Like all classic Rapala crankbaits, the Dives-To 12 is constructed from premium balsa wood. Balsa provides the perfect combination of buoyancy and action that hard plastic lures simply cannot match. The lightweight yet durable balsa body creates a natural, rolling action that closely mimics a fleeing baitfish. This realistic movement triggers aggressive strikes from bass, walleye, pike, and other predatory fish.
Caribbean Shad Color Pattern
The Caribbean Shad color pattern is highly effective in a wide range of water conditions. It features a translucent blue back with silver sides and a white belly, accented with realistic scale patterns and 3D holographic eyes. This color excels in clear to slightly stained water and is particularly effective when bass are feeding on shad or other baitfish. The holographic finish provides flash and visibility that helps attract fish from a distance.

The 3D holographic eyes add to the lure’s realism, often making the difference between a follow and a strike.
Effective Fishing Techniques
