Featuring a full-sized plain edge blade and lightweight blue fiberglass-reinforced nylon (FRN) handles, the Resilience offers an excellent balance of size, strength, and everyday carry comfort. Designed as a more accessible alternative to Spyderco’s premium models, this version stands out with its vibrant blue handles while maintaining the same robust construction and reliable performance that has made the Resilience a popular choice among knife enthusiasts.

Why Choose the Spyderco Resilience Blue FRN?

The Spyderco Resilience was developed to provide users with a full-sized, capable folding knife at a very competitive price point. The C142PBL model features blue FRN handles, which not only reduce the overall weight of the knife but also give it a distinctive and modern appearance. The plain edge blade is ideal for clean slicing and general utility tasks, while the smooth liner construction ensures smooth and reliable operation. With its generous blade length and ergonomic design, the Resilience Blue FRN is well-suited for users who want a substantial working knife without the higher cost associated with premium steels or handle materials. The blue color adds visual appeal and improved visibility compared to black-handled versions, making it a great choice for those who prefer a more colorful and eye-catching everyday carry knife.

Performance and Handling

The Spyderco Resilience Blue FRN is built to handle real-world cutting tasks with ease. The large plain edge blade provides excellent slicing performance across a wide range of materials, including cardboard, rope, packaging, and general utility work. The flat grind blade geometry helps maintain a sharp edge while remaining relatively easy to sharpen when needed.

The blue FRN handles are one of the biggest advantages of this model. They keep the knife significantly lighter than G-10 or metal-handled versions, making it much more comfortable to carry throughout the day. Despite the reduced weight, the textured FRN scales provide a secure, non-slip grip in both wet and dry conditions. The smooth liner construction allows the blade to deploy and close smoothly, while the back lock offers a strong and positive lockup during use. The Spyderco Round Hole enables fast, one-handed opening with either hand. The vibrant blue color not only looks great but also makes the knife easier to locate when placed on a work surface or inside a bag. Overall, the Resilience delivers big-knife capability in a package that remains practical and comfortable for everyday carry.
