Shield Sights OMSX Open Mini Sight XL 8 MOA Glass Red Dot Sight | Premium Open Reflex Optic | Model OMSX-8MOA-GLASS | UPC 726529151244
The Shield Sights OMSX Open Mini Sight XL 8 MOA Glass is a high-performance open reflex red dot sight engineered for competitive shooters who prioritize maximum speed and a large, clear sight picture. This model (OMSX-8MOA-GLASS) features an expansive viewing window, a bold 8 MOA red dot, and premium glass lenses. As part of Shield’s Open Mini Sight XL series, the OMSX delivers an oversized sight picture in a compact package, making it one of the fastest red dot options available for USPSA, IDPA, 3-Gun, and other action shooting disciplines.
Large Viewing Window – Open Mini Sight XL Design
The OMSX Open Mini Sight XL is designed with a significantly larger viewing window than standard micro red dots. This expanded sight picture allows shooters to acquire targets faster and maintain better situational awareness during dynamic stages. The open reflex design eliminates the “tube effect” found in enclosed optics, providing a more natural and unobstructed view of the target and surrounding environment. This makes the OMSX particularly effective for competition shooters who need to engage multiple targets quickly while staying aware of their surroundings.
Bold 8 MOA Red Dot Reticle
The OMSX is equipped with a large 8 MOA red dot, which is ideal for shooters who want the fastest possible target acquisition at close to medium ranges. The bigger dot is highly visible, even in bright sunlight or when moving quickly between targets. While slightly less precise than smaller dots at very long distances, the 8 MOA dot excels in speed-focused competitions where rapid hits on close to mid-range targets are required. Many top competitors prefer the 8 MOA size for its excellent visibility and forgiving aiming point during high-speed stages.
Premium Glass Lens for Superior Clarity
Unlike many budget red dot sights that use polymer lenses, the Shield OMSX features high-quality glass lenses. The glass lens delivers superior optical clarity, better light transmission, reduced distortion, and improved scratch resistance. This results in a sharper, brighter, and more color-accurate sight picture across all lighting conditions. The glass lens also maintains its performance over time, making the OMSX a durable and reliable choice for serious competitive and professional shooters.

The Shield Sights OMSX Open Mini Sight XL 8 MOA Glass stands out among open reflex sights due to its combination of a large viewing window, bold 8 MOA dot, and premium glass lenses. The 8 MOA dot is highly visible and forgiving, making it one of the fastest reticles available for close to medium-range competition shooting. The open Mini XL design provides a much larger sight picture than traditional micro red dots, allowing shooters to acquire targets more quickly while maintaining better awareness. The use of glass lenses instead of polymer significantly improves optical quality, clarity, and long-term durability. Shield Sights has earned a strong reputation for producing rugged, competition-proven red dot sights that hold up to hard use. Whether you’re a competitive shooter looking for every possible speed advantage or a serious user who wants a high-quality open reflex sight with excellent glass, the Shield OMSX 8 MOA Glass delivers outstanding performance.
Superior Optical Performance and Speed
The glass lens on the OMSX provides noticeably better clarity and color fidelity compared to polymer lenses. It reduces edge distortion and maintains performance across a wide range of temperatures and lighting conditions. The open design further enhances the shooting experience by minimizing the feeling of looking through a tube, allowing shooters to stay more focused on their target and surroundings during fast stages.
Maximum Speed for Competition
The large 8 MOA dot combined with the expansive viewing window of the Open Mini Sight XL makes the OMSX one of the fastest red dot sights available. The bold dot is easy to pick up even when moving aggressively between targets, giving competitive shooters a real advantage on the clock. This configuration is especially popular among shooters who prioritize speed over long-range precision.
