Popular California 420 Color Pattern

The California 420 color is a highly effective variation that features a green pumpkin base with purple and black flake. This color provides excellent contrast and flash while maintaining a natural appearance that closely mimics common baitfish and crawfish. The purple flake adds a unique flash that stands out in both clear and stained water, making it particularly effective in a wide range of conditions. Originally popularized on the West Coast, California 420 has proven to be a consistent producer nationwide, especially when fishing around vegetation, rocky structure, and in pressured waters.

Signature Trick Worm Action

The Zoom Trick Worm is distinguished by its unique “trick” tail design. This tail creates a subtle, lifelike undulating motion that looks incredibly natural in the water. When retrieved slowly or allowed to fall on a shaky head or drop shot rig, the tail moves with the slightest movement, giving the worm a realistic, breathing appearance. This understated action is often more effective than aggressive curly-tail worms, especially when bass are finicky or heavily pressured. The soft plastic allows the tail to move freely, creating a natural swimming motion that triggers strikes.

Highly Versatile Fishing Applications

The Zoom Trick Worm 6" California 420 is extremely versatile and can be fished using multiple techniques. It performs exceptionally well when rigged on a shaky head, Texas rigged with a bullet weight, fished on a drop shot, or wacky rigged for a slow, fluttering fall. Many anglers also have great success fishing it weightless around shallow cover or grass lines. The 6-inch size is ideal for targeting both largemouth and smallmouth bass in a variety of environments, from clear highland reservoirs to stained lowland lakes.

Premium Soft Plastic Construction

Zoom Bait is renowned for producing high-quality soft plastics that combine durability with lifelike action. The Trick Worm is made from a super-soft, premium plastic formula that provides excellent hook penetration while remaining tough enough to withstand multiple strikes. Each worm is salt-impregnated, which encourages bass to hold onto the bait longer after the initial strike, dramatically improving hook-up ratios. The consistent molding ensures reliable performance on every cast.
